    Successful Hosting of China CDC Weekly Academic Exchange Conference in Ningbo

    On June 21, 2024, China CDC Weekly Academic Exchange Conference was successfully held at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China, jointly organized by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and the University of Nottingham Ningbo. Zhao Chihong, Director of the Academic Publishing Management Department at the China CDC and Professor Chen Zhuo, Head of Health Economics at the University of Nottingham Ningbo delivered keynote addresses. More than 20 experts in the field of public health from disease control institutions and universities, and over 70 faculty and students from the University of Nottingham Ningbo attended the symposium.

    German Health Delegation from Robert Koch Institute Visits China CDC

    On June 21, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) welcomed a significant visit from a German delegation, including Professor Andreas Lutz Jansen, head of the International Health Protection Information Center at the Robert Koch Institute and Director of the WHO Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) Collaboration Center, and Dr. Basel Karo, Co-Director of the same center. The session was attended by Prof. Li Qun, Deputy Director General of China CDC, and key representatives from the Office of Education and Training, International Cooperation Office, Center for Global Public Health, Public Health Emergency Center, Division of Infectious Diseases, and National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention.

    China CDC and GOARN Collaborate on Training Workshop for Global Outbreak Response

    From June 18 to 20, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) successfully co-hosted an GOARN Tier 1.5 Orientation to International Outbreak Response Training Workshop in Guangzhou, China. The training was attended by over 70 participants from China CDC, 23 provincial CDCs, Beijing Ditan Hospital, the Health Departments of Hong Kong SAR,China, and Health Bureau of Macau SAR, China, as well as public health departments of eight ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam) and Sri Lanka.At the opening ceremony,Mr. Shi Guoqing, Director of the Health Emergency Center at China CDC, Dr. Li Yan, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial CDC, and representatives from GOARN, respectively delivered concise address.

    The 8th China-Myanmar Workshop on Malaria Elimination and Infectious Disease Control Cooperation Convened in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar

    On June 13, 2024, the 8th China-Myanmar Workshop on Malaria Elimination and Infectious Disease Control Cooperation was held in Nay Pyi Taw, the capital of Myanmar. This significant event was co-hosted by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute of Parasitic Disease, Yunnan Disease Control and Prevention Administration, Myanmar's Ministry of Health, Myanmar National Center for Diseases Control and Medical Training Center, and Myanmar's National Malaria Control Program, Department of Public Health, in the new building of the Myanmar National Center for Diseases Control and Medical Training Center, a facility supported by the Chinese government.

    Queensland University of Technology Delegation Visits Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention

    On June 19th, a delegation led by Professor Wenbiao Hu and Distinguished Professor Kerrie Lee Mengersen from Queensland University of Technology visited the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) to engage in a dialogue focused on infectious disease surveillance and early warning systems between Australia and China.

    On June 13, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone hosted a "Prevention First" health education event as part of a series of Patriotic Health Campaign activities. The event was attended by the Ambassador and his spouse, the Counselor, Advisors, embassy staffs, and representatives from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and the China Medical Team (Hunan Province).

    The 2024 National Training Workshop on Radiological Disease Diagnosis Techniques and Health Surveillance Held in Yinchuan

    The National Training Workshop on Radiological Disease Diagnosis Techniques and Health Surveillance was successfully conducted in Yinchuan city, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from June 3 to 6, 2024. The event was organized by the National Institute for Radiological Protection (NIRP), Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). Liu Jixiang who is deputy director of Ningxia CDC attended and delivered an address. More than 140 grassroots professional technical staffs in radiological health came from 31 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps participated in the training workshop. The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Jianxiang, who is the project leader and director of Department of Radiation Epidemiology at NIRP, China CDC.

    2024 China CDC Field Epidemiology Training Program Conference and National Instructor Training Workshop

    On June 12-13, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) hosted the 2024 Field Epidemiology Training Program Conference and National Faculty Development Workshop in Urumqi. The event gathered approximately 280 participants, including Liu Qing, Deputy Director of the Disease Control and Prevention Division at the National Center for Disease Control; Li Rui, Second Inspector and Deputy Director of the Xinjiang Health and Health Commission, as well as a member of the CDC Party Group; leadership from CDCs across all provinces, autonomous regions, direct-controlled municipalities, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps; department heads, mentor representatives, national faculty representatives, teachers from the China Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP), and local instructors from Xinjiang and the Corps. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ma Huilai, Vice Director of the Epidemiology Office of China CDC and Director of CFETP.

    Dr. Lance Rodewald, Senior Immunization Advisor at China CDC, Receives the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award

    On the afternoon of May 30th, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, represented by H.E. Minister Wang Xiaoping, awarded the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award to Dr. Lawrence Everett Rodewald, Senior Advisor of the National Immunization Program, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). Dr. Rodewald, an esteemed American expert widely known as Lance, received the medal and certificate at the ceremony, which was also attended by Prof. Shen Hongbing, director general of China CDC, who delivered a speech.
