Expert from the China CDC Infectious Disease Institute Supports Public Health Development in Sierra Leone
From January 2024 to January 2025, Wang Chao, Assistant Researcher at the National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention (ICDC) of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), served as a member of the expert team for the Phase Ⅲ Biosafety Laboratory Assistance Project in Sierra Leone. On January 14, 2025, Wang successfully completed his one-year mission and returned to China, where he was welcomed at the airport by Zhang Bike, Deputy Director of ICDC, and Liu Qiyong, Chief Expert.

Heads of the Africa CDC and China CDC meet in Beijing
On December 17, 2024, Dr. Jean Kaseya, Director of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), led a delegation to visit the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) to discuss ways to further deepen cooperation in disease prevention and control. Prof. Shen Hongbing, Director General of China CDC, and Deputy Director General Prof. Li Qun attended the meeting.

Prof. Qun Li, Deputy Director General, Leads Delegation to Attend the 18th Japan-China-South Korea Forum for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention in Japan
The 18th Japan-China-South Korea Forum for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention was held on December 10-11, 2024 in Tokyo, Japan in a hybrid format. Prof. Qun Li , Deputy Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), led the Chinese delegation to the event and delivered opening and closing remarks.

Comprehensive Hepatitis B Prevention and Control Research Project Launched in Four Provinces
In alignment with the World Health Organization’s(WHO)goal of eliminating viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030, the China Health Promotion Foundation.Has initiated the Supporting China’s Action to Eliminate the Public Health Threat of Viral Hepatitis by 2030 – Phase I Comprehensive Hepatitis B Prevention and Control Research Project.The project aims to thoroughly examine the current state of chronic hepatitis B prevention and control efforts in China and to explore comprehensive prevention and control models featuring medical-public health collaboration.

Chinese Pathogen Identification Net Work Summary and High-Quality Development Seminar Held in Beijing
On December 12, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (China CDC) National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention convened the Chinese Pathogen Identification Net Work Summary and High-Quality Development Seminar in Beijing. The seminar was attended by Deputy Director-General Jiao Zhenquan of the Department of Surveillance and Early Warning and Deputy Director-General Liu Qing of the Department of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control under the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control. Participants included leaders, department heads, and technical experts from the China CDC and its affiliated institutions, as well as provincial-level (including autonomous regions and municipalities) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The 7th China-Russia Infectious Disease Symposium and Infectious Disease Sub-forum of the Russian-Chinese Medical Congress Held in Beijing
From November 21 to 22, 2024, the 7th China-Russia Infectious Disease Symposium and Infectious Disease Sub-forum of 2024 Russian-Chinese Medical Congress were held in Beijing. Dr. Yan Jun, Deputy Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and Dr. Daria Danilenko, Deputy Director of the Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza in Russia delivered speeches on behalf of China and Russia, respectively.

China CDC Graduate School Hosted One Health Frontline FETP Training of Trainer Workshop
The Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP) of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hosted the “One Health Frontline FETP Training of Trainer Workshop” between November 1820, 2024 in Qingdao. More than 60 staff- from 11 provinces—Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, Chongqing, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang—along with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region-representing public health, animal disease control, and environmental health sectors participated in the workshop. The workshop increased multi-sectoral communication, coordination, and collaboration, while preparing mentors for implementation of the One Health Frontline program across the country.
