WHO Collaborating Center for Injury Prevention and Control and WHO Experts Conduct Field Research on Injury Prevention in Guangdong

To actively promote the high-quality development of injury prevention efforts, on December 13, 2024, Professor Duan Leilei, Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Injury Prevention and Control and Head of the Division of Injury Prevention and Mental Health at the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention（NCNCD）, China CDC, and Dr. Nhan Tran, Head of the Safety and Mobility Unit at WHO Headquarters, led a delegation of eight experts from China CDC and various provincial and municipal institutions to Guangdong Province for field research on injury prevention. Leaders and colleagues from the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Guangdong CDC) participated in the research.

 

The field research combined seminars and on-site visits. In the morning, the expert group reviewed the progress of injury prevention efforts at the Guangdong CDC and visited the Panyu Central Hospital affiliated with Guangzhou Medical University to observe injury surveillance practices. In the afternoon, the experts discussed the Electric Bicycle Child Passenger Safety Project, clarifying the project’s objectives and scope, and outlined the next steps for implementation.
