The Orientation meeting for “Fast Track City Initiative” to End AIDS Successfully Held in Ningbo, Zhejiang
From August 6 to 8, 2024, the Orientation meeting for “Fast Track City Initiative” to End AIDS was successfully held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. The meeting was organized by the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention (NCAIDS), China CDC, with Deputy Director Liu Yufen presiding. Over 30 participants attended, including leaders and experts from the Health Commissions, Disease Control Bureaus, and CDCs of Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Yunnan provinces, as well as Ningbo, Suzhou and Kunming cities, along with representatives from UNAIDS and the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC).

National Tuberculosis Control Application Technology Training Course Successfully Held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province
Amid the bustling sound of cicadas and the blooming flowers in Chengdu, the ancient "City of Brocade," the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Center organized the National Tuberculosis Application Technology Training Course on July 23-24, 2024, in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The training aimed to promote the precise selection, scientific evaluation, broad dissemination, and effective application of new technologies, tools, and strategies in the field of tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control. Over 80 participants, including heads of TB prevention and control institutions and key technical staff from 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and key TB prevention areas, attended the training.

2024 National Seminar on Innovation and Development in Academic Publishing for the Disease Control System Successfully Held
On July 26, 2024, the Office of Academic Publishing, China CDC, hosted the 2024 National Seminar on Innovation and Development in Academic Publishing for Disease Control in Shanghai. The opening ceremony was attended by Academician Shen Hongbing, Deputy Director of the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control and Director of China CDC; Xiong Huang, First-Class Inspector of the General Office of the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control; and Mao Jie, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Over 70 participants, including leaders and key personnel responsible for academic publishing from provincial-level CDCs, relevant affiliated units, and departments of China CDC, attended the seminar. Researcher Shi Xiaoming, Deputy Director of China CDC, presided over the event.

Recently, Tereza Kasaeva, Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Tuberculosis Program, led a team of experts to China for a series of activities, including assessments, discussions, and field visits focused on tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control. During their visit to Huzhou in Zhejiang Province, WHO experts engaged in warm and productive dialogues with representatives of Chinese youth volunteers.

China CDC and UNICEF Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation
On July 15, 2024, Dr. Ted Chaiban, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), visited the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). During the visit, Dr. Chaiban and Prof. Shen Hongbing, Director of China CDC, signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

China CDC and Germany's Robert Koch Institute Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation
On the afternoon of July 23, 2024, Prof. Shen Hongbing, Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), and Prof. Dr. Lars Schaade, President of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Germany, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions via a video link. The MoU will be valid for five years, during which time the two organizations will collaborate in multiple areas, including infectious diseases, health emergencies, non-communicable diseases, laboratory safety, public health personnel training, and capacity building.

On July 10, 2024, Dr. Jérôme Salomon, Assistant Director-General for Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases at the World Health Organization (WHO), led a delegation to visit the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). The visit focused on discussions concerning the prevention and control of tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and malaria. The meeting was attended by China CDC Director General, Prof. Shen Hongbing, and Deputy Director Dr. Yan Jun. Prof. Shen warmly welcomed Dr. Salomon and his delegation.
