Director (President) Wang Jianwei Meets with Dr. Dorothée Lintner, Chairperson of the Fondation Mérieux

On October 14, 2026, Wang Jianwei, Director (President) of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine), met in Beijing with Dr. Dorothée Lintner, Chairperson of the Fondation Mérieux, and her delegation. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on infectious disease prevention and control, public health emergency response, and related topics.

Wang extended a warm welcome to Dr. Lintner and her delegation. He noted that the Fondation Mérieux has long shown concern for and supported China’s public health and disease prevention and control endeavors, and that cooperation between the Foundation and China CDC has a solid foundation and has yielded fruitful results. He expressed hope that the two sides would create more highlights of cooperation in areas such as infectious disease prevention and control, laboratory capacity building, development of the public health workforce, and global health governance.

Dr. Lintner congratulated the Center for Tuberculosis Control and Prevention of China CDC on being designated by the World Health Organization as a global collaborating center for research and innovation to end tuberculosis. She expressed the Foundation’s willingness to continue deepening the long-standing cooperation and to jointly help countries with insufficient capacity strengthen their laboratory systems and research capabilities.

At the meeting, experts from China CDC introduced progress in areas including the development of China’s tuberculosis prevention and control system, infectious disease surveillance and early warning, and public health emergency management. The two sides also exchanged in-depth views on One Health, cooperation on emergency drills, and a future cooperation framework.

Officials and experts from the National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, the Office of International Cooperation, the Public Health Emergency Center (PHEC), and the Center for Tuberculosis Control and Prevention of China CDC attended the meeting.
