China CDC Attends the 79th World Health Assembly

On 18 May 2026, the 79th World Health Assembly opened in Geneva, Switzerland, under the theme “Reimagining Global Health, Sharing Responsibility Together” A five-member delegation from China, led by Wang Jianwei, Director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), attended the assembly as part of the Chinese delegation.

During the assembly, Director Wang and his team held separate meetings with leaders and experts from the International Association of National Public Health Institutes, the Gulf CDC, and the UK Health Security Agency, among others, engaging in in-depth discussions on potential areas for future cooperation. Director Wang also conducted productive exchanges with officials from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the Singapore Infectious Disease Management Agency, and the Africa CDC.

At side events, Director Wang participated as a panelist in the session “Simplicity in Action: Mosquito-Free, Disease-Free” organized by the Hong Kong Shared Foundation, where he shared China’s practical experience in physical measures for dengue fever prevention. He also served as moderator at the session “One Health, Global Public Health Security” jointly organized by the World Federation of Public Health Associations and the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association.

Looking ahead, China CDC will continue to uphold the concept of a Global Community of Health for All, actively promote the achievements of China’s high-quality disease control initiatives, and advance practical cooperation in the global public health field.
