SCO Experts Trace the Legacy of an Anti-Plague Pioneer and Chart a New Course for Public Health Cooperation

To advance technical collaboration and people-to-people exchange in the field of plague prevention and control among Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO)countries, and to promote cross-border international cooperation.The“Seminar on Plague Prevention and Control in SCO Countries”was held in Beijing from August 5 to 6.The event was hosted by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention(China CDC), co-organized by the National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention of China CDC and the Wu Lien-Teh Public Welfare Foundation.

Online China and ASEAN Tabletop Exercise on Preservation and Use of Pathogenic Microorganism Resources Successfully Held

On 21 and 22 August 2025, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention(China Academy of Preventive Medicine)convened the 2025 China Field Epidemiology Training Program(CFETP)Annual Conference in Shanghai.The conference invited the Director of the Training Programs in Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions Network(TEPHINET), as well as leaders responsible for FETPs at the Department of Disease Control of the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand.

Laboratory of the National Institute of Environmental Health Achieves Strong Results in International Interlaboratory Comparison Organized by UK LGC

From June to July 2025, the Water Quality and Health Surveillance Laboratory of the National Institute of Environmental Health, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention(China CDC).Took part in the 687th round of an international interlaboratory comparison on water quality testing organized by the Laboratory of the Government Chemist(LGC)in the United Kingdom.All forty-three reference indicators for per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)received satisfactory ratings.

National Video Conference Held to Advance the Application of Data from the National Pre-Positioned Software for Intelligent Infectious Disease Surveillance and Early Warning

To further promote the practical application of data generated by the National Pre-Positioned Software for Intelligent Infectious Disease Surveillance and Early Warning(hereinafter referred to as the“pre-positioned software”)within provincial-level integrated platforms for infectious disease surveillance.Officials from the Early Warning Division of the Department of Surveillance and Early Warning under the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention attended the meeting.

The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention(China CDC)has recently signed a cooperation agreement on infectious disease surveillance and early warning with Beijing Sankuai Online Technology Co., Ltd.(Meituan).It aims to improve the integration of social sensing into epidemic monitoring efforts.  Monitoring and issuing early warnings based on publicly available information, including data from the internet.This index is intended to support the detection of potential outbreaks and to assist in early warning and trend forecasting.
