CHAI Expert Team Visits National Center for Tuberculosis Control and Prevention,China CDC
On March 12, 2026, an expert team led by Shaukat Khan, Director of Global TB Diagnostics at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), together with Project Manager Dong Haiyan and Senior Program Officer Feng Minwen, visited the National Center for Tuberculosis Control and Prevention, China CDC for exchanges.
Zhao Yanlin, Director of the National Center for Tuberculosis Control and Prevention of China CDC, extended a warm welcome to the CHAI team and gave a brief introduction to the center. Ren Jingjuan, Assistant Research Fellow, then presented the progress of tuberculosis prevention and control in China. Dr. Shaukat Khan shared the implementation and experience of CHAI’s multi-disease screening projects in Nigeria and Kenya. The two sides held in depth exchanges and discussions on multi-disease screening strategies, the application of innovative technologies in tuberculosis diagnosis, testing capacity building, and global cooperation in tuberculosis prevention and control. After the discussion session, the CHAI team visited the National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory to gain further insight into the well-established structure of China’s tuberculosis laboratory testing system and the latest developments in related technologies.
This exchange visit laid a sound foundation for deeper and closer cooperation in the future in such areas as innovation in tuberculosis diagnostic technologies, improvement of integrated prevention and control strategies, and expansion of global cooperation in tuberculosis prevention and control. Both sides agreed that they will continue to strengthen communication and collaboration in the years ahead, move forward together, and contribute to the continued development of tuberculosis prevention and control, so as to help advance the global goal of ending the tuberculosis epidemic at an early date.
