China CDC (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine) Conducts National Technical Training on Nipah Virus Disease Prevention and Control
On the afternoon of January 29, 2026, a video-based technical training on the prevention and control of Nipah virus disease was held to strengthen nationwide surveillance and response capacity. More than 37,000 participants attended the training, including staff from disease control centers and medical institutions across all 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, along with representatives from health authorities, disease control departments, and customs. The session was hosted by Director Guoqing Shi of the Health Emergency Center.
The training was delivered by Deputy Director Lei Zhou and Associate Researcher Ruiqi Ren from the Health Emergency Center of China CDC (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine), Director Huanyu Wang and Researcher Kai Nie from the Vector-Borne Diseases Department of the Institute for Viral Disease, and Director Hongyang Duan from the Emergency Office of National Institute of Environmental Health. Topics covered included the epidemiology and global situation of Nipah virus disease, investigation and control techniques, pathogen research and progress, sample collection and testing, and protection and disinfection technologies. The training also featured a lecture by Associate Dean Rongmeng Jiang of Ditan Hospital, Capital Medical University, on the clinical diagnosis and treatment of Nipah virus disease. This training is expected to enhance the country’s capacity for monitoring and controlling Nipah virus disease.
