    China CDC and European CDC Hold Technical Exchange Meeting on Public Health Workforce Development and Training

    On January 16, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) held a technical exchange meeting on public health workforce development and training via an online conference. The meeting saw participation from Adam Roth, head of the ECDC's Fellowship Program, Emeline Bell and Anna Kiss, ECDC international relations officers as well as experts and officers from the Office of Education and Training and Office of International Cooperation of the China CDC.

    Graduate School Hosts Series of Special Lectures on Public Health Practice for MPH Applied Master's Students

    From January 2nd to 6th, 2024, the Graduate School held a week-long series of special lectures on public health practice for Master of Public Health (MPH) students at Changping teaching area. These lectures brought together experts from the National Health Commission, the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, medical schools, and disease control institutions to teach the entire 2023 cohort of MPH students. The series was chaired by Liu Xuetong, Deputy Director of the Teaching Department of the Graduate School.

    China's First WHO Collaborating Centre for Injury Prevention and Control Established

    On January 15, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) was officially approved to establish China's first World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Injury Prevention and Control. The WHO has designated the Injury Prevention and Control and Mental Health Division of National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicabe Disease Control and Prevention (NCNCD), China CDC as the Collaborating Centre, with Researcher Duan Leilei serving as its director. This marks the second WHO Collaborating Centre within the NCNCD, China CDC.

    Editorial Board Symposium for the 35th Anniversary of BES was Held by the Department of Academic Publishing

    On December 27, 2023, the Editorial Board Symposium for the 35th anniversary of Biomedical and Environmental Sciences (BES) was successfully held in Beijing. The symposium was hosted by Professor Zhao Wenhua, Chief Editor of BES. Prominent attendees included Academician Shen Hongbing, Director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), Academician Chen Junshi, General Consultant of the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment, and Professor Shi Xiaoming, Deputy Director of the China CDC. Editorial board members in Beijing, leaders from various departments of the China CDC, and experts and scholars from its institutes gathered to discuss the history, current status, and future of BES.

    Successful China-Kazakhstan Exchange Event on Plague and Zoonotic Infectious Disease Control Held in Xinjiang, China

    From November 30 to December 2, 2023, Prof. Zauresh Zhumadilova, director of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Health's National Scientific Center for Especially Dangerous Infections Diseases (Kazakhstan NSCEDI) leading a Kazakhstan NSCEDI delegation visited China at the invitation of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). This visit led to a successful joint event in China’s Xinjiang, organized by the China CDC, National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention (ICDC) of China CDC, the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Tracking and Forecasting for Infectious Disease, and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Center for Disease Control and Prevention of China (China’s Xinjiang CDC).

This annual event, designed as a forum for young scientists and graduate students to engage in scholarly discourse, Included Principal Investigators, young scientific workers, and postgraduates who actively participated. Director Li Zhenjun, from China CDC Science and Technology Department, presided over the opening ceremony.
