April 26, 2024, celebrated as the 17th National Malaria Day in China, was marked by significant activities commissioned by the Health and Immunization Department of the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration. The National Institute of Parasitic Diseases of China CDC, in conjunction with the Medical Parasitology Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, Yunnan Provincial Disease Control and Prevention Administration, and Yunnan Institute of Parasitic Diseases, conducted a joint promotional campaign and training on border malaria in Ruili City, Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, from April 25 to 26. The events extended to field research conducted in Yingjiang County along the China-Myanmar border.

Participation included over 100 leaders and experts such as Ji Yongcai, Li Guanglin, Li Shizhu, and Wang Liping from the national level, along with various authorities from Yunnan Province.

The campaign underscored that eliminating malaria does not mean the disease is completely absent. The activities fostered enhanced interdepartmental cooperation and effectively raised public awareness on malaria prevention and control. The initiative also promoted coordinated prevention and control of malaria across borders, and created favorable conditions for further deepening public health collaboration between China and Myanmar.
