2024 First Seminar on Global Public Health Cooperation and Capacity Building

On the morning of March 20, 2024, the Office of International Cooperation of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) organized the inaugural session of its series on Global Public Health Cooperation and Capacity Building. This seminar prominently featured Dr. Ali Shirazi, the Chief of Child Health and Development Section, UNICEF Office for China, as the keynote speaker. Over fifty participants, including staff from the foreign affairs system of China CDC and students and professionals keen on global engagement with international organizations, attended the event, which utilized a hybrid format of both online and in-person attendance.
 
Dr. Ali Shirazi delivered a detailed introduction of UNICEF, covering aspects such as the organizational structure of the United Nations, UNICEF's history and mission, global strategies in the realms of health and nutrition, and its essential collaborations
in China, along with the significant achievements of such partnerships. He went on to share his valuable experiences working at UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the World Health Organization (WHO), offering precious advice on career development for young professionals in attendance.
 
Additionally, Dr. Ali Shirazi engaged deeply with participants on a range of topics, including preventing injuries in schools, child drowning prevention, preparation for working in foreign countries, and strategies to enhance donor retention.
