China CDC Signs Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong Faculty of Medicine, and the City University of Hong Kong Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences

On September 9, 2024, Li Qun, Deputy Director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of China CDC with the University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong Faculty of Medicine, and the City University of Hong Kong Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences. Under this memorandum, the four institutions will collaborate in areas such as infectious disease prevention and control technology research, capacity building and talent development, public health policy research, and global health.

Academic Symposium of China CDC Weekly (Xinjiang Session) Successfully Held

On September 13, 2024, the Academic Symposium of China CDC Weekly (hereinafter referred to as the "Weekly") was successfully held in Urumqi. Zhao Chihong, Director of the Academic Publishing Management Office at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), and Wang Xijiang, Deputy Director of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region CDC, attended and delivered opening remarks. Over 20 experts in public health from China CDC, provincial CDCs, hospitals, and universities participated and presented their research.

Dr. Robert Bergquist, Foreign Expert at the China CDC’s National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, Receives the 2024 Chinese Government Friendship Award

Nominated by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and recommended by the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, Swedish expert Dr. Robert Bergquist, appointed by the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases (also known as the Chinese Center for Tropical Diseases Research), has been awarded the 2024 Chinese Government Friendship Award.

2024 Technical Exchange Workshop of South-South Cooperation on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Successfully Held

The 2024 Technical Exchange Workshop of South-South Cooperation on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, organized by the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention (NCAIDS), Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), was successfully held in Beijing and Kunming in September 2024. The event brought together over 40 management and technical personnel specializing in HIV/AIDS prevention and control from 16 countries, the African Union, and the United Nations system, with partial support from the UNAIDS China Office.

Collaborative Efforts in Science and Education: The 19th Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP) Successfully Held by China CDC

From August 14 to 15, 2024, the 19th Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP) was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi province. This event was jointly organized by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, and hosted by the Shanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Shanxi CDC).

The 10th China Healthy Lifestyle Conference Held in Beijing

To further strengthen academic exchange and interaction on healthy lifestyle practices and to promote the high-quality development of theChina Healthy Lifestyle for All (CHLA) Campaign, the 10th China Healthy Lifestyle Conference was held in Beijing from August 29 to 30, 2024, under the theme “Weight Management: Everyone Participates, Lifelong Benefits.”

China CDC National Institute of Parasitic Diseases Conducts Exchange, and expands Cooperation on Tropical Disease Prevention, and Control in Egypt

At the invitation of Professor Emad Khater from Ain Shams University, the Egyptian PI of the China-Egypt Collaborative Research Project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Academy of Scientific Research and Technology of Egypt from both side, a delegation led by Li Shizhu, Director of the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases (also the National Center for Tropical Diseases Research) under the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), visited Egypt from August 2 to 6, 2024. The delegation also included Researcher Zhang Yi, Deputy Director Yang Kun from the Jiangsu Institute of Parasitic Diseases, and Deputy Director Cao Zhiguo from the Anhui Provincial CDC. The delegation participated in the project advancement meeting for the China-Egypt collaboration and conducted cooperative exchanges on tropical disease prevention and control.

China CDC and Singapore iCDA Sign Memorandum of Understanding

On August 26, 2024, Prof. Shen Hongbing, Vice Administrator of the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration and Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), led a delegation to visit the Singapore Interim Communicable Diseases Agency (iCDA). During the visit, Prof. Shen Hongbing and Prof. Vernon Lee, Executive Director of iCDA, jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding between China CDC and iCDA.

2024 Exchange Meeting on Community-based Organizations' Participation in AIDS Response in Wuhan

From July 31 to August 2, 2024, the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention (NCAIDS) of China CDC and the Management Committee Office of China AIDS Fund for Non-Governmental Organizations(CANGO) of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association jointly held the exchange meeting on community-based organizations (CBOs)' participation in AIDS response in Wuhan, Hubei Province. More than 30 participants, including staff from NCAIDS, CANGO, Hubei CDC, Guizhou CDC, and Jiangxi CDC, as well as representatives of CBOs from different provinces/autonomous regions/municipalities, attended the meeting and actively engaged in discussions.
