Prof. Wang opened the meeting with a welcome address, congratulating the CDA Singapore on its official establishment in April 2025. He spoke highly of the positive progress made since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides, highlighting the jointly initiated Senior Officers Exchange Programme as a demonstration of strong cooperation. He expressed hope that this meeting would serve as an opportunity to deepen communication and collaboration in shared priority areas, promote the exchange of practical experience, and further strengthen both countries’ capacities to respond to major public health challenges.
In his remarks, Prof. Lee explained that the CDA Singapore was established under the newly revised Infectious Diseases Act as the national agency responsible for infectious disease management and coordination. He emphasized the broad prospects for cooperation with China CDC in disease surveillance, scientific research, emergency response, as well as education and training. Recognizing the shared challenges that threaten global health security, Prof. Lee expressed his hope that the two sides would go beyond expert exchanges to explore diversified models of cooperation, facilitate information sharing between counterpart teams, deepen joint research efforts, and enhance coordinated response capabilities.
The technical roundtable featured in-depth discussions on three thematic areas: infectious disease surveillance, emergency preparedness and response, and field epidemiology training program. During the visit, a seven-member delegation from Singapore also toured the National Influenza Center at the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention under China CDC.
