2025 China Health Science Popularization Competition Officially Launched in Changsha

The 2025 China Health Science Popularization Competition was officially launched on July 10 in Changsha, Hunan Province. The opening ceremony was attended by Xi Jingjing, Deputy Director-General of the General Office of the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention; Zhou Yuhui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), also known as the China Academy of Preventive Medicine; Cheng Bo, Member of the Leading Party Group and Deputy Director of the Hunan Provincial Health Commission; Xie Ying, Member of the Leading Party Group and Deputy Director of the Hunan Provincial Administration of Disease Control; as well as responsible officials from the organizing, co-organizing, and supporting entities. Representatives from the disease control centers of all provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and affiliated institutions of China CDC also attended the meeting.

 

Deputy Director-General Xi Jingjing emphasized that the competition should aim to become a model initiative that responds to public concerns, addresses public needs, clarifies public doubts, encourages public reflection, and guides public behavior. She called for the establishment of a comprehensive, multidimensional, and highly interactive science communication system. Deputy Secretary Zhou Yuhui stressed the need to enhance cross-sector coordination, promote collaboration across disease control, healthcare, and media sectors, and transform the competition into a “chorus” rather than a “solo performance.” He underscored the importance of aligning science communication with practical public needs, advancing the professional development of science communicators, and building a sustainable mechanism for long-term exchange.

 

With the launch, all preparatory work for the 2025 China Health Science Popularization Competition is now fully underway. All are warmly invited to register and take part in the competition.
