WHO Health Security Multisectoral Collaboration Officer Visits China CDC

On the afternoon of June 27, 2025, Ludy Suryantoro, Head of Multisectoral Engagement for Health Security at the headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO), visited the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). He had a discussion with senior officials and experts from the Global Public Health Center, the Emergency Operations Center, and the Office of International Cooperation.
 
Mr. Suryantoro introduced WHO’s initiatives and proposals aimed at strengthening multisectoral collaboration to better prevent and respond to public health emergencies. These include developing a civil-military health cooperation framework, creating guidelines and tools for urban preparedness and response to health emergencies, and establishing the Global Strategic Preparedness Network (GSPN) community to facilitate resource and experience sharing. The Global Public Health Center shared updates on China CDC’s health development assistance projects in Asia and Africa, its participation in the WHO Epidemic Intelligence from Open Sources (EIOS) community, and its practices and insights in implementing the One Health approach.
 
Mr. Suryantoro expressed appreciation for China CDC’s active engagement in the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence and the GSPN activities, as well as its achievements in building health emergency response teams and organizing multinational tabletop exercises. Both sides also discussed future plans for cooperation.
