2025 Technical Training Workshop on National Food Nutrition Surveillance Held in Urumqi
The 2025 Technical Training Workshop on National Food Nutrition Surveillance was held from June 10 to 11, 2025, in Urumqi, Xinjiang. A total of 145 participants attended the training, including personnel from 33 monitoring sites across 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, as well as staff from CDCs in Weihai, Luohe, Ganzhou, Enshi, and other locations. Among them, 37 participants were from disease control agencies affiliated with the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and municipal and county-level CDCs.
At the opening session, Wang Zhihong, Deputy Director of the National Institute for Nutrition and Health, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), emphasized that the national task force would continue to provide strong technical support for food nutrition surveillance across all regions and strengthen collaboration at all administrative levels.
The training featured detailed interpretations of the 2024 surveillance results and the technical plan for 2025. It also included comprehensive explanations of the technical requirements and textual provisions of newly issued national food safety standards. In light of evolving dietary consumption patterns and the updated Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents, the training addressed full-chain issues related to the monitoring of food-medicine substances and prepared dishes, and offered practical solutions to common challenges. In addition, the workshop reviewed key technical difficulties and focal points in the detection of phytochemicals, providing targeted guidance for provincial-level personnel involved in food composition analysis. The training effectively enhanced the technical capacity of local CDC staff engaged in food composition monitoring.
