China CDC Graduate School Hosted One Health Frontline FETP Training of Trainer Workshop

The Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP) of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hosted the “One Health Frontline FETP Training of Trainer Workshop” between November 1820, 2024 in Qingdao. More than 60 staff- from 11 provinces—Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, Chongqing, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang—along with Hong Kong Special Administrative Region-representing public health, animal disease control, and environmental health sectors participated in the workshop. The workshop increased multi-sectoral communication, coordination, and collaboration, while preparing mentors for implementation of the One Health Frontline program across the country.

The 2024 China Conference on NCDs Prevention and Control was held in Beijing from October 19 to 20. Guided by the Department of Medical Emergency Response of the National Health Commission, the conference was jointly hosted by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), and other institutions, with the Center for Chronic Disease Control at the China CDC and the Chronic Disease Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association serving as co-organizers.

Mérieux Foundation Experts Visit China CDC’s Tuberculosis Control Center for Exchange

On October 18, 2024, Dr. Jonathan Hoffmann, TB Project Manager at the Mérieux Foundation; Liao Qizhi, Chief Representative in China; and Huang Yanjun, Finance Manager, visited the China CDC Tuberculosis Control Center for an exchange visit to enhance the implementation quality of the third phase of the Mérieux Foundation Tuberculosis Project and explore future cooperation directions.

Director General Shen Hongbing Meets with Director of U.S. CDC China Program

On the morning of October 23.Prof.Shen Hongbing met with Dr.W.William Schluter, the outgoing Director of the U.S.CDC China Program, at the Changping campus.Director Shen expressed his gratitude for Dr.Schluter’s contributions to fostering collaboration between China CDC and U.S.CDC, and welcomed the newly appointed Deputy Director of the U.S.CDC China Program, Dr.Earl Bradbury. .He presented Director Shen with a commemorative collection of co-authored articles published in China CDC Weekly and the U.S.CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report(MMWR).

Director General Shen Hongbing Attends the 1st Conference of the G20 National Public Health Institutes

On September 9–10, 2024, Prof. Shen Hongbing, Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), was invited to attend the 1st Conference of the G20 National Public Health Institutes(NPHIs) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Prof. Shen delivered a speech under the theme “Preparedness and response to health emergencies.” He shared China CDC’s experiences and initiatives in optimizing health emergency response systems, capacity building, and involvement in international emergency actions. In alignment with the topic “Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response (PPR),” Prof. Shen participated in a panel discussion with leaders from NPHIs of Germany, Cuba, and others. They exchanged insights on addressing challenges related to vaccine production and distribution, cross-border information sharing for monitoring, and the training and stability of emergency response teams.
