Professor Mustapha Aboumaarouf, Director of Morocco’s High Authority of Health, Visits China CDC
On the afternoon of April 2, 2026, Professor Mustapha Aboumaarouf, Director of Morocco’s High Authority of Health, led a delegation on a visit to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). Li Qun, Deputy Director of China CDC, attended the meeting. Officials from relevant departments and experts from the headquarters also joined the discussions.
Li Qun welcomed Director Aboumaarouf and his delegation. He spoke highly of Morocco’s practical steps in recent years to establish the High Authority of Health, advance the modernization of its healthcare system, and strengthen quality oversight. He said China CDC and Morocco’s High Authority of Health have broad prospects for cooperation and expressed hope that the two sides would carry out substantive cooperation in public health. Director Aboumaarouf thanked Li Qun for the warm reception and briefly introduced the organizational structure and core functions of Morocco’s High Authority of Health. He said the authority is responsible for disease prevention and control, epidemic assessment, and related data analysis. He also said he hoped to learn more about China’s experience in building and managing disease surveillance systems and to strengthen technical cooperation with China CDC.
At the meeting, the two sides heard special presentations from the Division of International Cooperation and the Division of Infectious Disease. They also exchanged views on China’s surveillance and reporting systems for infectious diseases and chronic non communicable diseases, as well as the application of artificial intelligence in disease prevention and control.
