National Key Laboratory for Infectious Disease Source Tracing, Early Warning and Intelligent Decision Making Holds All-PI Meeting in Beijing

On January 10, 2026, the National Key Laboratory for Infectious Disease Source Tracing, Early Warning and Intelligent Decision Making held its All-PI Meeting in Beijing. Academician Wang Jianwei, Director-General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and President of the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, attended the meeting. Academician Xu Jianguo, Director of the Laboratory, was also present, along with Deputy Directors Dong Xiaoping, Li Qun, Shi Xiaoming, Jin Ronghua, and Zhao Xin. More than 150 people took part, including all PIs of the Laboratory and representatives from 11 external partner institutions.
 
The opening session was chaired by Deputy Director Shi Xiaoming. Speaking on behalf of the host institution, Wang Jianwei affirmed the Laboratory’s academic achievements and shared expectations for the upcoming construction-phase evaluation. He encouraged all members to clarify tasks, deepen strategic consensus, strengthen system coordination, explore new mechanisms for cross-sector integration, and promote the Laboratory’s sustained development. Deputy Directors Jin Ronghua and Zhao Xin, speaking on behalf of their respective host institutions, reported on cooperation progress and outlined next-step plans. Both said their institutions would continue to increase support for the Laboratory. The meeting presented certificates to 14 newly selected PIs and to 11 partner institutions.
 
Deputy Director Dong Xiaoping delivered a report on the Laboratory’s annual key tasks and preparations for the evaluation. The meeting also organized special briefings on five representative achievements and invited selected PI representatives to give academic talks. These sessions showcased the Laboratory’s latest research progress in infectious disease source tracing, early warning, and intelligent decision making.
 
In closing remarks, Academician Xu Jianguo fully affirmed the meeting’s outcomes and encouraged research teams to continue their efforts and produce more practical results. He also expressed the hope that the Laboratory will stay focused on infectious disease prevention and control research and provide stronger support for the high-quality development of China’s disease control and prevention work.
