On May 18, members of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) who participated in China Public Health Team to Myanmar successfully completed their mission. They arrived in China via Kunming Changshui International Airport and subsequently back to Beijing. Li Qun, Deputy Director of China CDC, along with heads and staff from the Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute of Environmental Health , the General Office, the Department of Mass Organizations, the Public Health Emergency Center, the Division of Infectious Disease Control, and the Immunization Center, welcomed the team at Beijing Capital International Airport.

Following the 7.9-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar, and under the leadership of the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control, China CDC responded swiftly and with great emphasis by dispatching ten experts to join forces with the Yunnan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention to form China Public Health Team to Myanmar. The team was deployed to the earthquake-affected areas to carry out post-disaster health and epidemic prevention work. While in Myanmar, China CDC team members strictly adhered to discipline and demonstrated strong professional competence. They conducted on-the-ground activities including public health risk assessments, water quality testing, vector surveillance, environmental disinfection, and technical guidance on vaccination. They also contributed to the drafting of technical documents for post-disaster epidemic prevention, provided training to local public health professionals, and shared China’s experience and technologies in post-disaster health response. Their work actively embodied the vision of building a global community of health for all.
