Thai Ministry of Public Health Delegation Visits China CDC

On February 12, 2025, a 12-member delegation from the Epidemiology Division of the Department of Disease Control under Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health, led by Director Wichan Bhunyakitikorn, visited the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). Shi Xiaoming, Deputy Director General of China CDC, attended the meeting. Officials and representatives from the Office of International Cooperation, Office of Epidemiology, Center for Global Public Health, Publich Health Emergency Center(PHEC), and the Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP) participated in the discussions.

 

Deputy Director General Shi Xiaoming welcomed the Thai delegation and expressed China CDC’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Thailand in field epidemiology training, surveillance and disease prevention and control, and other areas of public health, aiming to enhance the health and well-being of people in both countries. Director Wichan Bhunyakitikorn stated that, as China and Thailand mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Thailand is eager to build upon the existing partnership, deepen cooperation, and actively promote exchanges in the field of disease prevention and control.

 

During the meeting, experts from China CDC provided an overview of the organizational structure and core functions of China CDC, emergency response mechanisms, and the application of artificial intelligence in disease surveillance. China and Thailand FETP also shared insights into the progress of field epidemiology training. Participants engaged in discussions and exchanged views on these topics. The Thai delegation also toured the office and classroom of CFETP, gaining firsthand insight into China FETP and had a comprehensive discussion to deepen cooperation between China and Thailand FETP.
