The 10th China Healthy Lifestyle Conference Held in Beijing
To further strengthen academic exchange and interaction on healthy lifestyle practices and to promote the high-quality development of theChina Healthy Lifestyle for All (CHLA) Campaign, the 10th China Healthy Lifestyle Conference was held in Beijing from August 29 to 30, 2024, under the theme “Weight Management: Everyone Participates, Lifelong Benefits.” The conference was guided by the Department of Medical Emergency Response of the National Health Commission, and organized by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), with co-organization from the National Action Office of CHLA, National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention and National Institute for Nutrition and Health of the China CDC. The event brought together 150 participants, including leaders and technical personnel from disease control centers at various levels across provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as experts and scholars from the field of healthy lifestyle promotion. Additionally, some county leaders from the National Health Commission's rural revitalization assistance program were invited to attend.
Huang Xin, Director of the Public Health and Medical Administration office at the Department of Medical Emergency Response of the National Health Commission, and Zhou Yuhui, Deputy Party Secretary of the China CDC, attended the conference and delivered opening remarks. During the opening ceremony, participating leaders and experts jointly launched the activities of 2024 National Healthy Lifestyle Promotion Month, released the Key Points for Healthy Lifestyles in Various Scenarios (2024), and presented weight management toolkits to healthy lifestyle instructors and other representatives.
Academician Chen Junshi from the Chinese Academy of Engineering was invited to deliver a keynote report titled “Healthy Lifestyles and Disease Prevention.” Han Jinyan, Deputy Director of the Tianjin Municipal Health Commission, was invited to share a keynote presentation on “Tianjin’s Experience in Building a Healthy City and Promoting Healthy Lifestyles.” The academic sessions were divided into two key themes: healthy lifestyles and weight management, with experts from fields such as public health, clinical medicine, sports medicine, and food science delivering insightful presentations. The conference also featured three in-depth interview sessions: the “Eighteen-Coming of Age: Healthy Lifestyles” forum, “Opening a New Era,” and “Discussions on weight management”. These sessions reviewed the background of theCHLA, summarized its accomplishments, looked ahead to future initiatives, and explored ways to further implement healthy lifestyle concepts. During the conference, a Healthy Lifestyle Experience Corridor was set up, where health-related organizations, companies, and rural revitalization support counties showcased public health services and products as part of a public welfare initiative.
Healthy lifestyles are the most effective and economical means of disease prevention. This conference facilitated the exchange of strategies and experiences related to healthy lifestyles, while also discussing weight management techniques and methods. The blend of academic exchange and practical insights at the event contributed to the integration of theory and practice, laying a solid foundation for the continued advancement of the CHLA and the “Year of Weight Management” activities.
