Academic Symposium of China CDC Weekly (Xinjiang Session) Successfully Held

On September 13, 2024, the Academic Symposium of China CDC Weekly (hereinafter referred to as the "Weekly") was successfully held in Urumqi. Zhao Chihong, Director of the Academic Publishing Management Office at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), and Wang Xijiang, Deputy Director of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region CDC, attended and delivered opening remarks. Over 20 experts in public health from China CDC, provincial CDCs, hospitals, and universities participated and presented their research.
 
Director Zhao provided an overview of the Weekly's development and mission over the past four years, emphasizing the critical importance of infectious disease prevention and control. She encouraged enhanced collaboration between CDCs, hospitals, and academic institutions, highlighting the Weekly as a platform to advance scientific research and innovation.
 
The symposium centered on plateau infectious disease prevention and control, addressing key public health challenges with a focus on both human and animal health. Participants discussed strategies to enhance the quality and international impact of China CDC Weekly. Distinguished speakers included Dr. Zhou Xiaonong, Chief Expert from China CDC's National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, among other prominent experts who shared their research findings.
 
This meeting marked the third stop in the Weekly's 2024 academic symposium series. The event not only facilitated the exchange of research advances in specialized fields but also strengthened partnerships between CDCs and affiliated institutions in infectious disease prevention and control. The symposium concluded with remarkable success.
