On June 13, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone hosted a "Prevention First" health education event as part of a series of Patriotic Health Campaign activities. The event was attended by the Ambassador and his spouse, the Counselor, Advisors, embassy staffs, and representatives from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and the China Medical Team (Hunan Province).

Dr. Wang Chao, from the Department of Vector Control in the Institute of Infectious Diseases at China CDC, led the session with an informative presentation on the eradication of household pests. He systematically addressed four types of vectors—mosquitoes, flies, cockroaches, and bedbugs—and covered three aspects: understanding these vectors, their health risks, and their control strategies. He elaborately explained the behavior and hazards associated with each vector and discussed various control and eradication methods applicable in daily life at work and at home. This session provided essential knowledge for future initiatives in embassy and residential vector control.

Subsequently, representatives from the China Medical Team (Hunan Province) provided a science lecture on first aid knowledge as first witness, including live demonstrations of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). Attendees were also invited to practice these life-saving techniques.

The event concluded with Ambassador Wang Qing summarizing its successful execution and expressing gratitude to the three medical teams: the China CDC, the China Medical Team (Hunan Province), and the Chinese Military Medical Team, for their comprehensive and professional health support provided in Sierra Leone.
