On May 29, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) convoked the 2024 National Conference on Disease Control Informatization and Cybersecurity in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The conference was attended by Li Zhengmao, Director of the Department of Planning, Finance, and Legislation at the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control; Yan Jun, Deputy Director of China CDC; and Jia Yueqi, Party Secretary and Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region CDC.

Director Li Zhengmao emphasized that disease control institutions at all levels must elevate their political stance, fully recognize the importance of informatization, and enhance top-level design. He highlighted the need to actively advance key projects, such as the establishment of the Provincial Coordinated Regional Infectious Disease Surveillance, Early Warning, and Emergency Command Information Platform; the enhancement of central-to-local infectious disease surveillance, early warning, and emergency command capabilities; and the deployment of national intelligent infectious disease surveillance and early warning prepositioned software. Li also stressed the importance of integrating new-generation information technology with the disease control sector, promoting "Internet+", "Data Element×", and "Artificial Intelligence+". Additionally, he underscored the necessity of reinforcing security barriers to ensure that cybersecurity is incorporated throughout the construction of disease control informatization.

Deputy Director Yan Jun delivered a keynote report titled "Reflections on Disease Control Informatization Construction in the New Era." She elaborated on the path for digital transformation of disease control institutions and the measures taken by the center to promote "Smart Disease Control." Yan proposed specific requirements for implementing the conference spirit, such as advancing the deployment and application of the national intelligent infectious disease surveillance and early warning prepositioned software in line with local conditions, accelerating the construction of the Provincial Coordinated Regional Infectious Disease Surveillance, Early Warning, and Emergency Command Information Platform, enhancing information analysis and service capabilities, and ensuring the robustness of cybersecurity and information standards.

The conference featured 12 thematic reports focused on recent key tasks related to disease control informatization and cybersecurity. Over 90 participants attended the meeting, including representatives responsible for cybersecurity and informatization from the CDCs of various provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and sub-provincial cities, as well as relevant departments of the center.
