Chinese, Russian experts discuss infectious disease prevention and control in Beijing

A sub-forum on infectious disease prevention and control kicked off on Nov 17 in Beijing, within the framework of the Russian-Chinese Medical Congress.
 
Keynote speech lecturers included Dr. Vladimir Gushchin from the Gamaleya National Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Dr. Tsyganova Elena Valerievna from the Moscow City Center for AIDS Prevention and Control, Prof. Shao Yiming, former chief expert on AIDS at the China CDC, and Prof. Wang Dayan, director of the National Influenza Center, the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, China CDC.
 
The speakers focused on such topics as influenza surveillance and control, the technical routes and development of AIDS vaccines, the research, production, and utilization of COVID-19 vaccines, and monitoring and response to respiratory virus. 
 
The moderators and participants also engaged in in-depth discussions on pressing issues in infectious diseases, including improving global influenza surveillance, influenza vaccine coverage, and the impact of COVID-19 vaccines on HIV-infected individuals.
 
The sub-forum was chaired by Prof. Dmitry Lioznov, director of the Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza in Russia, and Prof. Dong Xiaoping, chief expert on virology of the China CDC.
