Exchange conference on epidemiology teaching of graduates takes place in Beijing

On Nov 16, 2023, the Office of Epidemiology of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) organized an exchange conference on epidemiology teaching in Beijing.
 
Professor Pan Xiaochuan from the School of Public Health, Peking University, Professor Shan Guangliang from Peking Union Medical College, and Researchers Wang Ruotao, Li Xudong and Yang Zhenyu, and Professor Wang Ning from the China CDC were invited as guest lecturers to attend the conference, along the attendance of relevant teaching management personnel and lecturers.
 
Researcher Qi Xiao reviewed and summarized the management of epidemiology teaching by the office since 2010, with a focus on the reform of and achievements in teaching content and teaching methods since 2015. At present, graduate epidemiology teaching at the China CDC has formed a curriculum system that includes three modules of the fundamental theories and methods of epidemiology, macroscopic thinking in epidemiology, and the application of epidemiology in public health. 
 
Professor Shan Guanglian presented on the topic of "Ideas and Framework of Graduate Epidemiology Courses", introducing the teaching objectives, target audience, requirements, characteristics, curriculum design, assessment methods, and evaluation of epidemiology teaching at Peking Union Medical College.
 
The attendees gave fully recognition to the achievements of the graduate epidemiology courses at the China CDC, and engaged in thorough discussions on epidemiology teaching characteristics, teaching models, content arrangement, and future reform directions. 
 
Ma Huilai, director of the Office of Epidemiology, stated that further efforts will be made in the exploration of distinctive epidemiology teaching modes, so as to contribute to reforms in graduate education at the China CDC.
