WFPHA head visits China CDC

Prof. Luis Eugenio De Souza, chairman of the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA), visited the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and met with Prof. Shen Hongbing, director general of the China CDC, on Nov 15 in Beijing.
 
Shen gave a warm welcome to Luis and his delegation on their visit and briefly introduced the China CDC and the reform of China's disease control and prevention system.
 
He mentioned that the WFPHA has played an important role in helping to strengthen national public health associations' capabilities, and has made evidence-based voices heard in global health policy discussions.
 
He also proposed deepening cooperation in public health between the two organizations in the future.
 
Luis expressed gratitude for the reception. He praised the China CDC for its outstanding contributions to public health, and invited them to participate in the upcoming 18th World Congress on Public Health in South Africa.
 
Luis and his delegation also held in-depth exchanges with experts from the China CDC on emergency preparedness and response work.
 
Mr. Li Quanle, vice secretary-general of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, accompanied the visiting delegation during their trip.
