The China - Sierra Leone Third Phase of the Fixed Biological Safety Laboratory Technical Cooperation Project Successfully Passes Acceptance Inspection

The China - Sierra Leone Third Phase of the Fixed Biological Safety Laboratory Technical Cooperation Project passed final evaluation by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce in June, 2023. 

 

The third phase of project was supported by China International Development Cooperation Agency and China's Ministry of Commerce and undertaken by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) from January 2021 to December 2022.

 

During the two-year implementation period, China CDC dispatched experts to Sierra Leone to assist the country in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, engaging in pathogen detection of fever of unknown origin, maintaining biosafety of Sierra Leone-China Friendship Biological Safety Laboratory, strengthening the cultivation of public health personnel, and developing virus hepatitis prevention and control guidelines.

 

The third phase of the technical cooperation project has received wide recognition from the Sierra Leone government, local people and the international community. It has also played a positive role in further deepening the traditional friendship and health cooperation between China and African countries and made tremendous contributions to the South-South cooperation and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
