China CDC co-organizes themed event for 2022 World No Tobacco Day

An online event marking the 2022 World No Tobacco Day, organized by the Office of Healthy China Initiative Promotion Committee and co-organized by the China CDC, was held on May 30.
 
During the event, the China CDC released the results of the 2021 National Tobacco Survey of college and secondary school students.
 
Mao Qun'an, director of the Department of Planning and Information of the National Health Commission, pointed out that tobacco control is a social program that concerns the whole population and covers the whole life cycle.
 
Mao said that all related agencies should take responsibility of tobacco control, focus on promoting the Healthy China Initiative, strengthen publicity on tobacco control, provide high-quality smoking cessation services and build a smoke-free environment.
 
Highlights of a university students’ debate activity themed on tobacco control science popularization,outstanding mass media works and China's tobacco control progress in some regions were also shown during the event.
 
The World No Tobacco Day falls on May 31 every year. It was created to raise public awareness about the damage caused by tobacco production and use. The theme for this year’s World No Tobacco Day is “Tobacco: Threat to Our Environment”.
