China CDC researcher attends WHO webinar on tobacco control

Xiao Lin, deputy director of the Tobacco Control Office of the China CDC, attended the WHO World No Tobacco Day 2022 Webinar themed on "the devastating environmental impact of tobacco" on May 26, 2022, at the invitation of the WHO's regional office for the Western Pacific.
 
Xiao shared China's experience and practice in"using an environmental angle to promote tobacco and prevention".
 
During the webinar, experts discussed ways to collaborate on climate change and environmental efforts through tobacco control in the Western Pacific region.
 
The harmful effects of tobacco planting, baking, manufacturing, distribution and consumption on the environment, economy, society, health and biodiversity were discussed as well.
 
World No Tobacco Day is marked on May 31 every year to raise public awareness about the damage caused by tobacco production and use.
