Zhou Xiaonong meets with Ethiopian ambassador to China

Zhou Xiaonong, director of the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases at China CDC (the Chinese Center for Tropical Disease Research) met with H.E. Teshome Toga Chanaka, Ethiopia’s ambassador to China, via video link on April 21, 2022.
 
Teshome pointed out the practical significance of the current cooperation between China and Ethiopia in the prevention and control of tropical diseases.
 
He suggested that the two sides should boost relations in the field of tropical diseases based on the experiences and cooperation between Ethiopian and Chinese universities and look forward to signing an MOU to further strengthen scientific research.
 
Ethiopian experts outlined the progress of cooperation with China, the needs of infectious disease prevention and control research and the mutual benefits of future cooperation.
 
Zhou briefed the participants about the institute and its changes in the international cooperation, in particular, the institute is exploring domestic sources of fund, holding large-scale international conferences, establishing international cooperation networks and conducting overseas research projects.
 
In response to Ethiopian experts, Zhou said that there is a wide range of areas for future cooperation and expressed willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in scientific research, student education and creation of joint laboratories and to organize joint activities with the School of Global Health with the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Medical School.
