China CDC co-organizes review meeting on TB patient care project

Co-organized by the Department of International Cooperation of the National Health Commission (NHC) and the China CDC, a review meeting on the TB patient care project was held online on Apr 20, 2022.
 
Nearly 40 leaders and experts from the Department of International Cooperation of the NHC, Xian Janssen Pharmaceutical Ltd., related provincial CDCs and other agencies attended the meeting.

Wang Jian, deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation of NHC, pointed out that the project promoted the work on patient care and improved the treatment compliance of TB patients. She also appreciated the work of formulating the policy scheme for TB in the project area, and the publication of the "manual for Chinese TB patient care".
 
Wang expressed the hope that institutions and organizations in the project area can quickly learn from their experiences and benefit more TB patients.

Zhang Wei, vice president of Xian Janssen Pharmaceutical Ltd., outlined the projects and cooperation carried out by Xian Janssen in the field of TB prevention and control, expressing gratitude to all involved in the patient care project. She said that Xian Janssen would continue to work towards the goal of ending the tuberculosis epidemic.
 
Zhao Yanlin, director of the TB Control and Prevention Center of the China CDC, said that the project has achieved several breakthroughs, including publication of the "manual for Chinese TB patient care", an expert team delivering caring service to 11,000 patients, improvement of the patient care service system and a new concept of patient care.
 
The TB Control and Prevention Center of the China CDC has put forward "three major actions", namely patient care, zero-TB community action and social mobilization, for the prevention and control of TB. The target of TB patient care is to establish a whole process, whole period and all aspects of the care system for patients.
