Gao meets with French embassy representatives

Professor George F. Gao, director general of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), met with Professor Marc Daumas, counselor of higher education, research and innovation, and Professor Romain Jacquet, counselor of health of the French embassy in China, at the China CDC in Beijing on Jan 21, 2022.
 
Gao shared China's strategies on COVID-19 prevention and control, and the role of vaccines and information epidemiology in fighting COVID-19.
 
He said that the China CDC has maintained an open attitude and welcomed public health institutions all over the world cooperating with the China CDC to deal with disease, the common enemy of mankind.
Professor Jacquet talked about the functions of the Santé Publique France, and the French hospital system’s strategies for coping with COVID-19.
 
They also discussed the functions of the French Ministry of Solidarity and Health, and the relationship between the Santé Publique France and the Institut Pasteur.
 
Wang Xiaoqi, director of the Office of International Cooperation of the China CDC, briefed about China's public health system and the China CDC.
 
She also reviewed the cooperation between the China CDC and relevant French public health institutions in the fields of emerging infectious diseases, non-communicable disease control and prevention, environmental health and human resource capacity building, making a particular reference to the support provided by the France Institut Pasteur and Mérieux Foundation to the China CDC during the global response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
