China CDC holds training session on reporting and managing infectious diseases

The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) convened a national training conference on information report and management of infectious diseases via video link on July 25.

 

It drew the attendance of Li Qun, deputy director-general of China CDC, representatives of provincial-level, municipal-level and county-level CDCs, and staff members of China CDC's Division of Infectious Diseases, Public Health Emergency Center, and National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention.

 

Experts from China CDC's Division of Infectious Diseases, Public Health Emergency Center, and National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention made detailed interpretation of the requirements for infectious diseases' information report quality and management, as well as for management of sentinel surveillance reporting on human infections of animal influenza and influenza. 

They also related specific cases to highlight key steps, time limit, and dos & don'ts in the report and management of Class A infectious diseases and those of Class B managed with measures against Class A, human infection of animal influenza, and influenza sentinel surveillance.

 

In his speech, Li highlighted the importance of information report on the outbreak of contagious diseases. He said that getting full information of communicable diseases in a timely manner is a foundation to bring all types of contagious diseases under control, a key link in the surveillance and early warning of infectious diseases, and a major step to contain the infections at sources and to prevent and defuse major epidemic risks.

 

Li emphasized that all health institutions shall report and release contagious disease information in accordance with laws and regulations. He urged all localities to carry out targeted training for CDCs and health agencies and to ensure the availability of all relevant knowledge and skills.
