On the afternoon of February 12, 2025, a 12-member delegation from the Epidemiology Division of the Department of Disease Control, under Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health, led by Director Wichan Bhunyakitikorn, visited the Chinese Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP) at the Office of Education and Training of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). The visit aimed to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in field epidemiology training.

During the visit, Ma Huilai, Director of Office of Epidemiology at China CDC and Director of CFETP, provided an overview of CFETP’s history, organizational structure, and functional teams. The delegation also toured the CFETP corridor culture wall displaying the photos taken from the field and academic conferences, classrooms, and offices. Following the tour, mentors from both sides shared their experiences and insights on guiding trainees in disease surveillance data analysis, outbreak investigations, and thematic research projects. During the discussion session, representatives from China and Thailand held in-depth discussions on strengthening collaboration between the two countries’ Field Epidemiology Training Programs (FETP). They proposed faculty exchange visits, trainee exchanges, mutual participation in academic conferences, and regular experience-sharing meetings, reaching a preliminary consensus on future cooperation.

This visit deepened mutual understanding between the Chinese and Thai FETP programs and provided new perspectives for future collaboration.
