The 7th China-Russia Infectious Disease Symposium and Infectious Disease Sub-forum of the Russian-Chinese Medical Congress Held in Beijing

From November 21 to 22, 2024, the 7th China-Russia Infectious Disease Symposium and Infectious Disease Sub-forum of 2024 Russian-Chinese Medical Congress were held in Beijing. Dr. Yan Jun, Deputy Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and Dr. Daria Danilenko, Deputy Director of the Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza in Russia delivered speeches on behalf of China and Russia, respectively. In her speech, Dr. Yan affirmed the great significance of China-Russia public health cooperation and expressed her hope that both sides would further strengthen cooperation in areas such as cross-border infectious disease control and global health in the future. Dr. Danilenko highly praised the role of the China-Russia Infectious Disease Symposium over the past seven years in promoting scientific research exchanges between the partner institutions of both countries. She also expressed expectations that public health experts from both sides would enhance interdisciplinary communication while deepening cooperation and continuously expanding the network of China-Russia partnerships in the field of infectious disease prevention and control.

 

Experts from various institutions, including the Smorodintsev Research Institute of Influenza, the Russian National Research Center for Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Diseases and Other Infectious Diseases, the Institute of Virology of Federal Research Centre of Fundamental and translational medicine, the Gamaleya National Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Peter the Great Polytechnic University, Hunan University, Fudan University Huashan Hospital, Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, and the China CDC’s National Institute for Viral Diseases Control and Prevention, National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention, National Center for Tuberculosis Control and Prevention, and Division of Infectious Diseases, gathered to exchange knowledge and discuss prevention and control technologies for influenza, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis.

 

Since its establishment in 2018, the China-Russia Infectious Disease Symposium has been held for seven consecutive sessions. This year's symposium marks the second in-person event hosted in China and is one of the key activities of the 2024 China-Russia Medical Congress.
