Experts from the China CDC Tuberculosis Control Center Attend the 55th Union World Conference on Lung Health
The 55th Union World Conference on Lung Health was held from November 12 to 16, 2024, in Bali, Indonesia. Organized by the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), this prestigious annual gathering serves as a vital forum for tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control. It convenes experts, public health administrators, policymakers, researchers, and advocates from across the globe for comprehensive academic exchanges and the sharing of best practices. This year, the conference attracted nearly 4,000 participants from over 150 countries, underscoring the global commitment to advancing global efforts in TB and lung disease prevention and control.
The conference was dedicated to expediting progress towards the global objective of ending the TB epidemic. From the perspectives of innovative tools and technologies, active case finding, proactive screening and prevention strategies, novel drugs and treatments, patient care and support, community engagement and participation, multi-disease prevention and control, fundamental scientific research, and social mobilization and advocacy. this conference serves as a rich forum for intellectual stimulation and the exchange of wisdom in the realm of global tuberculosis control.
A delegation comprising of five experts from the Tuberculosis Control Center of the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC)— namely Huang Fei, Liu Xiaoqiu, Ou Xichao, Qu Yan, and Zhang Canyou—attended the conference. The delegates actively participated in keynote presentations, session chairing, panel discussions, and interactive exchanges. Through these activities, they presented China’s innovative practices and achievements in TB prevention and control, and engaged in in-depth discussions with international experts on accelerating innovations in TB control and promoting the collaborative development and sharing of research findings. China’s participation in the conference demonstrated the nation’s dedication to contributing to global TB control efforts. By sharing their expertise and providing Chinese perspectives and solutions, the delegation highlighted China’s proactive role in the international community. In collaboration with countries worldwide, China is committed to achieving a TB-free world.
