2024 Exchange Meeting on Community-based Organizations' Participation in AIDS Response in Wuhan

From July 31 to August 2, 2024, the National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention (NCAIDS) of China CDC and the Management Committee Office of China AIDS Fund for Non-Governmental Organizations(CANGO) of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association jointly held the exchange meeting on community-based organizations (CBOs)' participation in AIDS response in Wuhan, Hubei Province. More than 30 participants, including staff from NCAIDS, CANGO, Hubei CDC, Guizhou CDC, and Jiangxi CDC, as well as representatives of CBOs from different provinces/autonomous regions/municipalities, attended the meeting and actively engaged in discussions.
 
During the meeting, experts from NCAIDS, the National Center for Women and Children's Health of the National Health Commission, CANGO, Hubei CDC, and Guizhou CDC introduced the strategies and key points of service for people living with HIV in China, progress in the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B, and community participation strategies. Additionally, they discussed the work progress and future work plan of CANGO, the current situation and challenges in CBOs' participation of AIDS prevention efforts in Hubei Province, as well as HIV testing strategies and practices among men who have sex with men (MSM). Representatives of CBOs in Beijing and Wuhan shared their experiences in AIDS prevention and control, and strategies and challenges in AIDS prevention efforts among youth. During the experience-sharing session, various CBOs introduced their current AIDS prevention efforts, difficulties encountered, and potential solutions.
 
This exchange meeting has promoted the CBOs' knowledge and skills in AIDS prevention and control, facilitating the exchange of insights into the challenges faced by CBOs' AIDS response. The meeting contributed to further strengthening CBOs' positive role in the fight against AIDS.
