A Brighter Tomorrow Led by Chinese Youth in Ending Tuberculosis—WHO Global TB Program Director Tereza Kasaeva and Experts Engage in Dialogue with Chinese Youth TB Volunteers

Recently, Tereza Kasaeva, Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Tuberculosis Program, led a team of experts to China for a series of activities, including assessments, discussions, and field visits focused on tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control. During their visit to Huzhou in Zhejiang Province, WHO experts engaged in warm and productive dialogues with representatives of Chinese youth volunteers.

At the seminar, Zhao Yanlin, Director of the China CDC Tuberculosis Control Center, and Jiang Jianmin, Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Provincial CDC, delivered speeches acknowledging the tireless efforts and outstanding achievements of Chinese youth volunteers. Two youth volunteer management officers from Zhejiang and Anhui, along with three volunteers from Zhejiang and Hubei, presented moving and insightful reports that deeply impressed the WHO experts and other attendees.
 
Tereza Kasaeva and her WHO colleagues praised the inspiring and exceptional work of Chinese volunteers, particularly highlighting the bright and innovative contributions of the youth. Kasaeva emphasized that the younger generation is the stewards of a healthier future and an agent of global change. She encouraged them to persist in their efforts, continue sharing their achievements, and support more in-depth practices and research not only in China but globally, thereby promoting the dissemination and sharing of knowledge.
 
Key leaders and experts at the seminar included Tereza Kasaeva, Director of the WHO Global TB Program; Hannah Monica Dias, Manager of Cross-Departmental Collaboration Projects within the WHO Global TB Program; Wang Yi, Technical Officer of the WHO Global TB Program; Chen Zhongdan, Tuberculosis Technical Officer at the WHO China Office; Zhao Yanlin, Director of the China CDC Tuberculosis Control Center; Jiang Jianmin, Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Provincial CDC; and Chen Bin, Director of the Zhejiang Provincial CDC Tuberculosis Prevention Institute. The seminar was also attended by youth volunteers and key personnel from TB prevention institutions in Zhejiang, Anhui, and Hubei.
