China kicks off 2023 National Environmental Health Promotional Activity in Guangzhou

China's three environmental health institutes -- the National Institute of Environmental Health affiliated to the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), the Environmental Sanitation Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA) and the Journal of Environmental Hygiene—jointly launched the kick-off ceremony for the 2023 National Environmental Health Promotional Activity in Guangzhou, capital city of South China's Guangdong province, on Sept 10, 2023.
 
The launching ceremony was presided over by Wang Lin, head of the China CDC's National Institute of Environmental Health. It drew the attendance of backbone forces from provincial-level CDC departments and environmental health research bases nationwide as well as representatives of award winners.
 
The award lists of the 6th "National Environmental Health Cup" Composition & Painting Competition for Primary and Middle School Students, the publication materials for the scientific popularization of environmental health, and excellent organizing units were announced at the ceremony. Guests of honor awarding of prizes to winning individuals and representatives of outstanding organizational units.
 
They also unveiled the 2023 National Environmental Health Promotion Activity with the theme of "Indoor Air and Health".
 
The National Environmental Health Promotion Activity  is a diverse and interactive publicity platform as well as a practice pushing for the green development and harmonious co-existence between mankind and nature. Participants said that they will carry out such activities in various forms to promote the cause of environmental health and make contributions to the building of a healthy and beautiful China.
 
Those in attendance at the ceremony also included Li Xiaocui, deputy director-general of Health and Immunization Department in the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control; Shi Xiaoming, deputy director-general of the China CDC and head of the Environmental Sanitation Branch of the CPMA; Yi Xuefeng, vice-director of Guangdong Provincial Health Commission; and Lin Lifeng, vice-director of Guangdong CDC.
