16th China-Japan-Korea Forum for communicable disease control and prevention held online

The 16th China-Japan-Korea Forum for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention as well as a joint symposium were held via video link on Dec 8.

 

Prof. Shen Hongbing, director-general of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), Dr. Takaji Wakita, director-general of Japan's National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID), and Dr. Peck Kyong Ran, commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), attended the event together with more than 100 experts from the three countries.

 

At the forum, the experts discussed on the surveillance, testing and control strategies of monkeypox as well as the impact of COVID-19 vaccine and other issues on the Pandemic in each country. 

 

The joint symposium focused on the "infectious disease control and one health approach". Experts shared the practices and experiences of the three countries in applying the one health approach in the areas of zoonosis, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), climate change and vector borne diseases, and disease X training.

 

In addition, during the event, China CDC hosted bilateral meetings with the NIID and the KDCA respectively. Directors had extensive exchanges on seasonal influenza, COVID-19 response, fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), genotype 5 Japanese Encephalitis, hantavirus disease, global health and other issues. 

 

They said that they would strengthen technical exchanges and information sharing in the prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, continue to carry out joint scientific research, and further enhance the capacity of infectious diseases control and prevention, making greater contributions to the health of people in the three countries and the world.
