Dong delivers keynote speech at intl conference on combating COVID-19

Dong Xiaoping, chief virologist of the China CDC, attended the Second International Scientific and Practical Conference on Counteracting New Coronavirus Infection and Other Infectious Diseases held in Russia on Dec 10, 2021.
Dong made a keynote speech themed on "COVID-19 Vaccination and Challenges" at the conference via video link.
He outlined the global and Chinese epidemic situations, types of vaccines, research and development and vaccine approvals and authorizations as well as the vaccination rate in China and stressed the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of control strategies and policies.

The conference, organized by Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), Russia's public health watchdog, focused on COVID-19 related topics such as epidemiology, diagnosis, clinical treatment, vaccine research and development and virus variations.
