China CDC holds conference on obesity and related chronic diseases

The first International Conference on the Comprehensive Life Course Prevention and Treatment of Obesity and Related Chronic Diseases, co-organized by the Health Science Institute of China Medical University and the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention of the China CDC, was held from Nov 13 to 14, 2021.
 
The online conference, moderated by Ding Zhenning, vice-president of China Medical University, brought together 39 renowned scholars, including Professor Gu Dongfeng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor John R. Speakman, an academician of the British Academy, from China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, and Thailand.
 
The conference promoted research on obesity and related chronic disease prevention and control, facilitated the Healthy China Initiative, and contributed to a global community of health for all.

Professor Wang Limin, head of the Risk Factors Monitoring Office of the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention, presented the epidemiological data and policy on obesity and chronic diseases in China in a report titled "The relationship between obesity and chronic disease control in Chinese residents".
