2024 China CDC Field Epidemiology Training Program Conference and National Instructor Training Workshop

On June 12-13, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) hosted the 2024 Field Epidemiology Training Program Conference and National Faculty Development Workshop in Urumqi. The event gathered approximately 280 participants, including Liu Qing, Deputy Director of the Disease Control and Prevention Division at the National Center for Disease Control; Li Rui, Second Inspector and Deputy Director of the Xinjiang Health and Health Commission, as well as a member of the CDC Party Group; leadership from CDCs across all provinces, autonomous regions, direct-controlled municipalities, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps; department heads, mentor representatives, national faculty representatives, teachers from the China Field Epidemiology Training Program (CFETP), and local instructors from Xinjiang and the Corps. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ma Huilai, Vice Director of the Epidemiology Office of China CDC and Director of CFETP.

Dr. Lance Rodewald, Senior Immunization Advisor at China CDC, Receives the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award

On the afternoon of May 30th, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, represented by H.E. Minister Wang Xiaoping, awarded the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award to Dr. Lawrence Everett Rodewald, Senior Advisor of the National Immunization Program, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC). Dr. Rodewald, an esteemed American expert widely known as Lance, received the medal and certificate at the ceremony, which was also attended by Prof. Shen Hongbing, director general of China CDC, who delivered a speech.

The 2024 National Conference on Disease Control Informatization and Cybersecurity Held in Hohhot

On May 29, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) convoked the 2024 National Conference on Disease Control Informatization and Cybersecurity in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The conference was attended by Li Zhengmao, Director of the Department of Planning, Finance, and Legislation at the National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control; Yan Jun, Deputy Director of China CDC; and Jia Yueqi, Party Secretary and Director of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region CDC.

The First China Conference on Obesity Prevention and Control Held in Wuhan

On May 12, 2024, the First Conference on China Obesity Prevention and Control , organized by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association (CPMA), was successfully held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The conference was hosted by the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association’s Committee on Healthy Lifestyles and Community Health and the Chronic Disease Center of the China CDC, and co-hosted by the Hubei Provincial Preventive Medicine Association, Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and the Hubei Provincial CDC.

The 9th WHO External Competency Assessment of Malaria Microscopists Successfully Held in Shanghai

In accordance with the "Measures for the Prevention of Re-transmission by Imported Malaria," the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases (NIPD) under the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), also known as the National Center for Tropical Diseases Research, successfully held the 9th WHO External Competency Assessment of Malaria Microscopists (WHO-ECAMM) from May 20 to 24, 2024, in Shanghai. A total of 12 trainees from 12 provinces includingthe Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps participated in the assessment.

The Second Series of the "Belt and Road" Tropical Disease Prevention and Public Health Practice Forum Lecture Series Successfully Held at the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases

The second Series of the "Belt and Road" Tropical Disease Prevention and Public Health Practice Forum lecture series, jointly organized by the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases (National Center for Tropical Diseases Research) of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) and the School of Global Health at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, was successfully held at the Institute on May 6, 2024. Director Li Shizhu and Secretary Cao Jianping of the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases attended the event, along with other researchers and graduate students.

Secretary Lu Jiang of China CDC Participates in the National Children's Vaccination Day Campaign and Conducts Field Research

This year marks the 38th National Children's Vaccination Day in China, celebrated under the theme "Act Together, Vaccinate, Safeguard Health Throughout the Lifecycle." This initiative seeks to enhance public understanding and acceptance of vaccination, advocating for collective action among all groups, including families, to actively participate in immunization efforts and thus ensure public health. In an effort to extensively promote the critical role of vaccinations in preventing infectious diseases and maintaining public health safety, the event was inaugurated on April 25, 2024, in Nanjing, Jiangsu.

National Major Parasitic Disease Comprehensive Prevention and Control Working Conference and 2024 Annual National Parasitic Disease Surveillance, Prevention and Control Work Conference was successfully held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province

From May 9 to 10, 2024, the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention (NADCP) and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) held the National Major Parasitic Disease Comprehensive Prevention and Control Promotion Meeting and the 2024 National Parasitic Disease Monitoring and Prevention Work conference in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. The conference deployed the implement the "National Comprehensive Prevention and Control Implementation Plan for Major Parasitic Diseases (2024–2030)," summarized the progress and achievements of national major parasitic disease surveillance, prevention and control, exchanged the latest research advancements and work experiences in the field of parasitic disease prevention, and would greatly promote the prevention and control work of major parasitic Diseases.
