Dr. Caryn Bredenkamp, Regional Manager of the Health, Nutrition, and Population, East Asia and Pacific Region, the World Bank, Visits China CDC
On the morning of April 18, 2025, Prof. Li Qun, Deputy Director General of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC), met with a visiting delegation led by Dr. Caryn Bredenkamp, Regional Manager of the Health, Nutrition, and Population, East Asia and Pacific Region of the World Bank, at China CDC’s North Campus.
Prof. Li welcomed Dr. Bredenkamp and her team, briefly reviewed recent cooperation between China CDC and the World Bank, and expressed hope for strengthened collaboration in areas such as One Health. Dr. Bredenkamp noted that the World Bank has worked with China in the health sector for over 40 years and expressed interest in deepening engagement with China CDC in infectious disease prevention and control and One Health, while also expanding cooperation through advisory services and knowledge platform development.
Following the meeting, the World Bank delegation introduced the progress of its current knowledge-sharing and load projects in the field of disease prevention and control in China. They expressed hope that China CDC would provide technical advice and expert support in key areas such as One Health, cross-border disease surveillance, and digital health, and welcomed the sharing of China’s experience to support the development of public health across the region and globally. Both sides held in-depth discussions on how to establish sustainable, multi-sectoral coordination mechanisms and governance models under the guiding framework of the One Health approach.
