Research on strategies and key technologies for prevention and control of child injury
This research was led by the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention of the China CDC, and completed jointly by multiple agencies and organizations. It won the second prize at the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association Awards in 2019.
Injury is the leading cause of death and disability among children worldwide. Developing strategies and key technologies of child injury prevention is one of the requirements of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This project developed strategies and key technologies for child injury prevention using several methods, including quantitative statistics, literature comparison, interview analysis, risk assessment and information dissemination. With joint efforts, the first Chinese Child Injury Report was released, and the China Action Plan on Child Injury Prevention and Control (2013-2020) was issued.
A series of technical guidelines for child injury prevention as well as the first Mongolian-Chinese bilingual Guidelines for Child Injury Prevention were released. The child injury monitoring system based on the sick-leave system in Chinese schools was constructed, the child injury risk prediction model was created, and the C4D concept was applied in the field of injury prevention and control for the first time, leading to development of relevant guidelines.
