The Youth League Committee of China CDC Organizes the 10th "Young Experts Go to the Grassroots" Volunteer Service Activity
From October 20 to 22, 2026, the Youth League Committee of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine) [hereinafter referred to as the Youth League Committee of the Center (Academy)] held the 10th "Young Experts Go to the Grassroots" volunteer service activity, together with the "Going to the Grassroots: Qionghai Tour" event, in Qionghai City, Hainan Province. The activity was hosted by the Youth League Committee of the Center (Academy), organized by the Youth League General Branch of the National Institute of Parasitic Diseases, and co-organized by the Health Communication Center of the Center (Academy) and the Youth League Committee of the Hainan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention. A total of 66 volunteers from 11 provincial-level CDCs and sister organizations—including Xinhua News Agency, Health News, People's Medical Publishing House, and the Institute for Biological Products Control—participated in the event.
During the activity, young experts and volunteers went deep into the Qionghai City CDC, as well as the central schools of Tanmen Town and Bo'ao Town, simultaneously carrying out grassroots public health professional training, campus health education, and charitable donations. Young experts delivered lectures on eight topics, including large language model applications, infectious disease prevention and control, occupational health, and research grant applications, with more than 150 grassroots workers attending the training. Health education volunteers conducted sessions in every class of the two schools, delivering a cumulative total of 111 class hours of health education courses, covering more than ten topics such as dental care, nutritious breakfast, eye protection, flu prevention, injury prevention, and parasitic disease control—transforming professional knowledge into health knowledge and life skills that children can understand and put to use. Donation ceremonies were also held at the two primary schools in Tanmen Town and Bo'ao Town, where a total of over 12,000 stationery items and school supplies, 722 books and reading materials, 432 schoolbags, more than 2,500 health promotional items, and over 500 items of daily necessities, sports equipment, and educational toys were collected and donated.
Since its launch in 2015, the "Young Experts Go to the Grassroots" volunteer service activity has been held for ten editions. The Youth League Committee of the Center (Academy) will closely follow the requirements of the three-year action plan for the education and guidance of young cadres of central Party and state organs, continue to leverage its professional strengths, guide CDC youth to complete the "grassroots practice course" among the "three essential courses", and use the strength of youth to safeguard the health of the people.
