China CDC Expert Departs for DRC to Support Ebola Prevention and Control

In the early hours of August 1, 2026, in accordance with the work arrangements of the National Health Commission, Wang Ji, an expert from the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention of China CDC, departed from Beijing as a member of the third Chinese medical expert team for Ebola response, bound for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to undertake an assistance mission for Ebola prevention and control. He will build upon the work of the previous two expert teams, coordinate with the Chinese medical team in the DRC, deepen joint prevention and control cooperation with the DRC health authorities and international organizations, and continue to consolidate and expand the gains of the assistance efforts.

Wang Jianwei, Director of China CDC, went to the airport to see him off. He shook hands with Wang Ji warmly, urging him to pay attention to safety during his time in Africa, work in close coordination with fellow team members, and contribute to Ebola prevention and control. He wished Wang Ji every success in completing the assistance mission. Officials from the Office of General Administration, Office of International Cooperation, Public Health Emergency Center(PHEC), and the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention were also at the airport to see him off.
